This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in publishing articles in ALFAMath: Jurnal Pendidikan Matematika, including authors, editors, peer reviewers, editorial board members, and the publisher. ALFAMath is published by Yayasan Pendidikan Intan Cendekia in collaboration with the Indonesian Mathematical Society (IndoMS) Region Bali–NTB–NTT.

The journal is committed to maintaining integrity, transparency, fairness, confidentiality, and quality throughout the scholarly publishing process.

Section A. Publication and Authorship

1. All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening to assess their conformity with the journal’s focus and scope, author guidelines, ethical requirements, originality, and minimum academic quality.
2. Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening are evaluated through a rigorous double-blind peer review process by at least two reviewers with relevant expertise.
3. The identities of authors and reviewers remain confidential throughout the peer-review process.
4. Manuscripts are evaluated based on the following criteria:
   • Relevance to the journal’s focus and scope.
   • Originality and scholarly contribution.
   • Theoretical and methodological soundness.
   • Accuracy and depth of data analysis.
   • Significance of the findings.
   • Clarity, organization, and readability.
   • Quality of academic writing.
5. Editorial decisions may include:
   • Acceptance;
   • Minor Revision;
   • Major Revision; or
   • Rejection.
6. An invitation to revise and resubmit a manuscript does not guarantee its eventual acceptance. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers or evaluated by additional reviewers when necessary.
7. Rejected manuscripts will not be reconsidered unless the Editor explicitly permits resubmission as a substantially revised new manuscript.
8. Acceptance of a manuscript is subject to compliance with all applicable legal and ethical requirements concerning copyright, plagiarism, defamation, privacy, confidentiality, research ethics, and intellectual property rights.
9. The same or substantially similar research must not be published in more than one journal or publication.
10. Manuscripts containing plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabricated or falsified data, inappropriate authorship, citation manipulation, or any other form of publication misconduct will be rejected or retracted in accordance with the journal’s publication ethics policy.
    

    B. Authors' Responsibilities (English)

    1. Authors must ensure that their manuscripts represent original, authentic, and ethical scholarly work.
    2. Authors must confirm that the manuscript:
       • has not previously been published in substantially the same form;
       • is not currently under consideration by another journal, conference proceeding, or publisher; and
       • will not be submitted elsewhere while under consideration by ALFAMath: Jurnal Pendidikan Matematika.
    3. Authors must appropriately acknowledge and cite all ideas, data, quotations, figures, tables, instruments, and materials derived from other sources.
    4. Plagiarism, self-plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, deceptive reporting, inappropriate image manipulation, and citation manipulation are strictly prohibited.
    5. Authors must present research methods, data, analyses, findings, and conclusions honestly, accurately, objectively, and transparently.
    6. Authors must retain relevant research data and documentation and provide them to the Editor when reasonably requested for verification or ethical investigation, subject to privacy and confidentiality requirements.
    7. All individuals listed as authors must have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research and manuscript.
    8. All authors must:
       • approve the final version of the manuscript;
       • agree to its submission and publication; and
       • accept responsibility for the integrity of their contributions.
    9. Guest authorship, honorary authorship, gift authorship, and ghost authorship are prohibited.
    10. Individuals who contributed to the research but do not meet the criteria for authorship should be appropriately acknowledged in the Acknowledgements section.
    11. Requests to add, remove, or rearrange authors after submission must be supported by a written explanation and written agreement from all affected authors.
    12. Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, professional, personal, academic, or other conflicts of interest that could influence the research or its interpretation.
    13. Authors must clearly identify all sources of research funding and describe the role of the funding body, where applicable.
    14. Research involving human participants, including students, teachers, children, parents, or educational communities, must comply with applicable institutional, national, and international ethical requirements.
    15. Authors must obtain ethical approval, informed consent, parental or guardian consent, and participant assent whenever required.
    16. Authors must protect participants' privacy, confidentiality, dignity, safety, and well-being.
    17. Authors must participate responsibly in the peer-review process by responding to reviewers' comments respectfully, clearly, systematically, and in a timely manner.
    18. Authors must promptly notify the Editors if they discover a significant error or inaccuracy in a submitted or published manuscript and must cooperate in issuing a correction or retraction when necessary.
    19. Artificial intelligence (AI) or AI-assisted tools must not be listed as authors.
    20. Authors remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, integrity, citations, and interpretation of all content created or revised using AI-assisted tools.
    21. Any substantive use of generative AI in research, data analysis, translation, image generation, or manuscript preparation must be transparently disclosed.
    22. AI-assisted tools must not be used to fabricate, falsify, manipulate, or misrepresent research data, participant responses, findings, citations, images, or research procedures.

    C. Reviewers' Responsibilities (English)

    1. Reviewers must treat all submitted manuscripts and related materials as confidential documents.
    2. Reviewers must not share, reproduce, distribute, retain, or use unpublished manuscript content for personal, professional, academic, or commercial advantage.
    3. Reviews must be conducted objectively, professionally, constructively, and respectfully, without personal criticism of the authors.
    4. Reviewers should express their evaluations clearly and support their comments with appropriate arguments or relevant references.
    5. Reviewers should clearly distinguish between essential revisions and optional recommendations.
    6. Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been appropriately cited by the authors.
    7. Reviewers should notify the Editor of any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under review and another published or submitted work of which they are aware.
    8. Reviewers should promptly inform the Editor of any suspected:
       • plagiarism;
       • duplicate or redundant publication;
       • data fabrication or falsification;
       • inappropriate image manipulation;
       • citation manipulation;
       • unethical research practices; or
       • any other form of research or publication misconduct.
    9. Reviewers should accept review invitations only for manuscripts that fall within their area of expertise and that they can review within the specified timeframe.
    10. Reviewers who lack sufficient expertise or cannot complete the review on time should promptly decline the invitation.
    11. Reviewers must disclose and avoid any financial, professional, institutional, personal, competitive, collaborative, supervisory, or other conflicts of interest involving the authors or their institutions.
    12. Reviewers must not require authors to cite the reviewers' own publications unless those references are directly relevant and scientifically justified.
    13. Reviewers must not attempt to identify, contact, influence, intimidate, or retaliate against authors.
    14. Reviewers must not upload confidential manuscripts or review materials to AI-assisted systems or third-party platforms unless those systems have been formally approved by the journal and comply with the journal's requirements for confidentiality, privacy, and data protection.

    D. Editors' Responsibilities (English)

    1. Editors have the responsibility and authority to accept, request revisions to, or reject submitted manuscripts.
    2. Editors are responsible for maintaining the academic quality, integrity, credibility, and overall standards of the journal.
    3. Editorial decisions must be based solely on:
       • relevance to the journal’s focus and scope;
       • originality;
       • scholarly significance;
       • methodological rigor;
       • clarity and coherence;
       • ethical compliance; and
       • contribution to mathematics education.
    4. Editorial decisions must not be influenced by the authors’ nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, political beliefs, institutional affiliation, disability, academic status, or personal background.
    5. Editors must ensure that manuscripts are evaluated fairly, objectively, independently, and confidentially.
    6. Editors must protect the confidentiality of authors’ and reviewers’ identities in accordance with the journal’s double-blind peer-review policy.
    7. Editors must select reviewers based on relevant expertise, impartiality, availability, and the absence of conflicts of interest.
    8. Editors must not appoint reviewers who have close personal, professional, supervisory, competitive, collaborative, or institutional relationships with the authors.
    9. Editors must disclose and avoid any financial, professional, institutional, personal, or other conflicts of interest.
    10. Manuscripts submitted by editors, editorial board members, or individuals closely associated with the journal must be handled independently by another qualified editor who has no conflict of interest.
    11. Editors must ensure that published research complies with accepted ethical principles and applicable research ethics requirements.
    12. Editors should accept manuscripts only when they are reasonably satisfied with their originality, academic quality, methodological soundness, and ethical compliance.
    13. Editors must take appropriate action whenever research or publication misconduct is suspected in either submitted or published manuscripts.
    14. Allegations of misconduct must be investigated fairly, objectively, confidentially, and without unnecessary delay.
    15. Authors and other affected parties must be given an opportunity to respond to allegations and provide supporting evidence.
    16. Editors must not reject or sanction an author solely on the basis of unsupported suspicion. Decisions concerning misconduct must be based on appropriate evidence and fair procedures.
    17. Editors may consult the publisher, editorial board, authors' institutions, funding organizations, or other relevant authorities when necessary to resolve ethical concerns.
    18. Editors must publish corrections, corrigenda, errata, expressions of concern, retractions, or other appropriate notices when necessary to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record.
    19. Correction and retraction notices must be clearly identified, permanently accessible, and linked to the original article.
    20. Editors should not reverse previous editorial decisions without substantial academic, ethical, procedural, or legal justification.
    21. Editors must prevent conflicts of interest among editorial staff, authors, reviewers, editorial board members, and the publisher.
    22. Editors and editorial staff must not use confidential information obtained from submitted manuscripts for personal, professional, academic, or commercial advantage.
        

        E. Publisher's Responsibilities (English)

        1. The Publisher supports the editorial independence of ALFAMath: Jurnal Pendidikan Matematika and must not interfere with editorial decisions for commercial, institutional, political, or personal reasons.
        2. The Publisher is responsible for supporting a fair, transparent, independent, and ethical publication process.
        3. The Publisher must support the Editors in investigating allegations of research or publication misconduct.
        4. The Publisher must cooperate with Editors, authors, reviewers, institutions, funding organizations, and relevant authorities when addressing serious ethical concerns.
        5. The Publisher is responsible for maintaining the journal's digital content, archives, and published scholarly record.
        6. The Publisher must ensure that corrections, retractions, expressions of concern, and other post-publication notices remain permanently accessible.
        7. The Publisher must provide clear information regarding:
           • publication fees;
           • copyright and licensing;
           • open-access policies;
           • digital archiving;
           • privacy and confidentiality; and
           • editorial and peer-review procedures.
        8. The Publisher must ensure that financial or commercial interests do not compromise editorial independence, peer-review integrity, or publication quality.
        9. The Publisher must work with the editorial team to prevent conflicts of interest among authors, reviewers, editors, editorial board members, and all other parties involved in the publication process.
